What is the GED file?
The GED file extension can be associated with several types of files. Most often, however, a file with such an extension is associated with the GEDCOM Genealogy Data Format format. GED files are supported by Linux, Mac OS, Windows operating systems. The GED file is one of the Data Files files, just like 1326 of the other files found in our file information database. The creator of GEDCOM Genealogy Data Format is The LDS Church.
A program that can open the GED file is e.g. Reunion. This software was released by Leister Productions. However, you can also use other applications, e.g. Ages, RootsMagic, Ancestral Author, LifeLines.
